ICAEW Programme

The ACA qualification is regarded globally as one of the leading business and finance qualifications, and is recognised and valued in practice, industry, commerce and the public sector. WHY ICAEW Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (ICAEW CFAB)

Having a good understanding of business, finance and accounting is highly valued in almost any role in any organization around the world. The ICAEW Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (ICAEW CFAB) teaches practical skills and knowledge including:

  • Understanding of the key elements of finance, accounting and business
  • Understanding of the wider business issues
  • Helping individuals talk the language of finance
  • Appreciating the main factors linked to business success or failure
  • Understanding of the key decisions that businesses and management teams have to make on a day-to-day basis
  • How to monitor business risk and evaluate business performance, and
  • Providing the skills to help individuals write a business plan, prepare their own personal tax statements and manage their finances more confidently.

How to get ICAEW Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business

ICAEW CFAB consists of six modules. Each one focuses on a key aspect of finance, business or accounting, giving you practical insights and knowledge that will help you in your career.

The six exams which are the first six modules of the ACA qualification cover:

  • Accounting
  • Assurance
  • Business, Technology and Finance
  • Law
  • Management Information
  • Principles of Taxation

The exams are computer based and taken at one of our approved test centres. This means that you can take your exams at any time of the year (subject to centre availability). As you pass each module, ICAEW will send you a certificate of achievement. Once you have completed all six modules, you will receive your final ICAEW CFAB qualification certificate.

Professional level papers is where you can demonstrate how you can develop and apply technical knowledge and skills.

How to get ICAEW Business and Finance Professional (BFP)

The BFP designation combines technical knowledge with work experience and an understanding of ethics. There are three requirements you have to meet to become an ICAEW Business and Finance Professional (BFP):

  • ICAEW CFAB

    The ICAEW Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (ICAEW CFAB) is an internationally recognised qualification comprised of six modules covering the essentials in finance, accounting and business.

    There are no minimum entry requirements to do the ICAEW CFAB qualification which is your first step to becoming an ICAEW Business and Finance Professional.

  • Work experience

    To apply for the designation you will have to demonstrate 12 months’ work experience in a business and/or finance role. This will need to be properly signed off and you will need to you have acquired the essential business skills listed. If you don’t yet meet this requirement, you can still start your BFP student journey and complete your work experience at a later stage and before you apply for the designation.

  • Ethics Learning Programme

    Organizations value employees who have a solid understanding of ethics. With this online programme, you will get to grips with our ethical framework and practise how you would respond to an ethical situation. This means that as a BFP, you will be able to demonstrate compliance with an internationally recognised Code of Ethics.

The Advanced Level is where the ACA demonstrates its world-leading quality. The modules will stretch you to adopt a multi-disciplinary approach and prove that you can use judgment as well as technical and analytical skills.
